The availability of green spaces and urban gardens for active participation in plant food cultivation and/or gardening has been an integral support to young people, who may not had the opportunity to fully experience contact with nature. It has also been proven to be an effective engagement tool to connect the elderly, especially for those who feel most alienated and excluded from our society as well as individuals with additional needs.
EU Green aims to recognise the skills of young people to be agents of change, to create inclusive communities with other generations, to learn how to make a difference and encourage sustainable use of the resources around them to create a more inclusive society.
EU Green will be a bridge between generations. It will break down the barriers of established generational norms. Older people will share the value of life experience. In addition this project supports intergenerational relationships to establish using food and the environment around us as a medium of change.

Our resource for local youth workers is blended or is face-to-face in order to establish and highlight practical and everyday situations in which youth environmental activism can be practised and improved. If you are a youth, a youth worker or are interested in environmental issues, do not hesitate to contact us to take part in this opportunity.
As the project progresses we will involve young people and youth workers in an international exchange. The objective of the international exchange is for Young people to get to know each other, to debate and discuss their role in society and how they can work together to preserve the environment and fight climate change by establishing international networks between themselves.
At the implementation stage of urban gardens, theory will be put into practice. The young people in this phase, with the support of the youth workers and retired participants in horticulture and environmental processes, will establish their own urban garden.
Our main aim is to create and give life to a space where young and old people can meet and share activities through the medium of horticulture to engage, relax and exchange experiences in the context of a modern world. A space where people live in community and the community itself is sustained by the interaction of all its citizens it should be a real source of inclusion and social cohesion.
